Ukraine needs more air defence equipment to protect its energy infrastructure.
This was stated in an interview with Telegraph by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ihnat.
He noted that the Russians will not abandon their intention to disrupt our fuel and energy sector in order to cut off power to the country in the cold season.
However, the occupiers do not have the same strategic stockpile of missiles as last winter. Ukrainian air defences shot down 750 missiles and 750 drones. Taking into account the missiles that have not yet been shot down, Russia has already used more than a thousand. On this basis, the Kremlin may rely on Iranian drones.
– They do not have so many long-range, high-precision missiles to strike across the entire territory of Ukraine. Therefore, they will probably rely more on kamikaze drones, which are also quite dangerous: if several drones hit a substation or some sensitive area, a fire will start, and this is dangerous. And we will strengthen air defence, but we need to have what we need,” Ihnat said.
As a reminder, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine also warns that with the cold snap, the occupiers may again concentrate their missile attacks on critical infrastructure to leave Ukrainians without electricity and heat, but Ukraine is already preparing for such scenarios.
And Ukrenergo urged not to get rid of generators, but rather to take care of their technical condition and stock up on additional fuel.
