Russians live for revenge: Cherevatyi on the situation in the Kupyansk sector
The situation in the Kupyansk sector is difficult but under control. Defence forces, aware of all the enemy’s plans, are disrupting them.
This was stated by the spokesman for the Eastern military grouping Serhiy Cherevatyi on Radio Liberty.
He said that in the Kupyansk sector, the occupiers have been trying to find weaknesses in the defence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for several weeks in a row and have been making attempts to attack. But the Russian army will not be able to take the positions that were liberated by the Ukrainian military last autumn.
– That’s what they hope, they live for revenge. And this has been going on for months. First, Donetsk and Luhansk regions were taken as an intermediate stage. It should be borne in mind that our enemies are tied to dates and symbols – they would like to be in time for the start of the super-successful Kharkiv operation, where they were simply humiliated, thrown out of a huge territory in a matter of days, forced to abandon their equipment and shells,” Cherevatyi said.
According to him, the Russians would like to break through to the Kupiansk area and “repeat at least some of the glory of the occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions”.
However, Cherevatyi added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces know their intentions, all the units that are concentrated, all the commanders and all the plans. According to him, Ukrainian defenders have been thwarting these intentions for many weeks in a row. Despite a certain escalation, the situation is very difficult, but absolutely under control.
