The Ukrainian Navy has denied the allegations of the Russian occupiers about the alleged destruction of a Ukrainian military boat with servicemen on board near Zmiinyi Island.

The Navy’s press service provided a comment to the US television channel CNN.

– There has been no such incident in the Ukrainian Navy. There were no losses among the Navy personnel. Accordingly, in this case, we have nothing to comment on,” the press service said.

Earlier today, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that a Russian aircraft had allegedly destroyed a “US-made Willard Sea Force fast military boat with an Armed Forces landing party” near Zmiinyi Island. This allegedly happened on the morning of 22 August.

CNN notes that the Russian agency published a video allegedly showing the incident with the boat. The video shows the shelling of a target without any identifying details.

It is worth noting that Russian propaganda regularly spreads statements about fake “victories”, and therefore, one should be very cautious about such “information”.

As you know, Russia occupied Zmiinyi Island at the beginning of a full-scale war. In late June 2022, Putin’s troops made a “goodwill gesture” and fled the island. This was preceded by intensive combat work by the Ukrainian Armed Forces: the Ukrainian military regularly struck at Russian positions on Zmeinyi.
