Head of Energoatom predicts no power shortage in the power system in September

In September, Ukraine’s power system is unlikely to experience a power shortage due to the commissioning of the sixth of nine available 1,000 MW nuclear power units.
This was stated by Petro Kotin, President of NNEGC Energoatom.
– “I think September will be without deficit. The 1,000 MW that we have now added is a lot of capacity. Remember last February: the blackouts stopped when we connected the thousandth unit,” he told reporters on Thursday.
At the same time, he noted that the seventh unit, which also has a capacity of 1,000 MW, is planned to be connected in 10 days, and the remaining two units will be connected within about a month.
– We have started start-up operations at the seventh unit. Once it is switched on, the total capacity will be 6.4 GW. Then, with the remaining two units, we will reach 7.4-7.6 GW. And we will work like this until the summer,” the head of Energoatom described the prospects.
