The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyу is considering the possibility of holding elections in the spring of 2024.

This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry during a briefing, Sky News writes.

– We are not closing this page. The President of Ukraine considers and weighs various pros and cons, – Kuleba noted.

At the same time, Dmytro Kuleba adds that holding elections during the war with Russia is associated with “unprecedented” challenges.

Elections in 2024?

President Zelenskyу previously stated that he wants to hold presidential elections as planned, at the end of March 2024, however, holding elections in conditions of hostilities has organizational difficulties. In addition, it would contradict the legislation of Ukraine.

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, previously mentioned the main problems associated with holding elections during hostilities . Among the stated reasons, in particular, are issues of security, ensuring the right to self-expression for the military and for Ukrainians who are abroad, as well as funding that will not go to the military, but to the organization of the election process.
