The Russian army is sending additional forces to Avdiivka, increasing the pressure on the Defense Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, the Ukrainian defenders are trying to maintain supplies via the main route, conducting counterattacks against the enemy.

This is stated in the summary of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain for February 8.

– Avdiivka remains the main place of Russian operations. Russia continues its attacks in the south-eastern districts of the city, street battles are taking place. Over the past two weeks, Russian troops have probably transferred additional forces to the Avdiyiv sector, increasing pressure on Ukrainian positions around the city. Ukraine continues to carry out counterattacks to ensure the preservation of the main supply route, – the message says.

At the same time, the British Ministry of Defense notes that over the past four weeks, about 600 guided munitions have been fired at Ukrainian positions in Avdiivka from Russian tactical aircraft.

Watching now

– On February 5, 2024, Russian aircraft increased the number of strikes with guided air munitions from 30 to 50 per day, which is 66% more than in the last two weeks, – the agency writes.

At the same time, enemy fighters are forced to launch munitions from a distance, which reduces their accuracy due to the threat from the Ukrainian air defense system that remains.

The UK MoD believes that Russia will almost certainly continue its offensive pressure in the area over the next few weeks, actively using tactical aircraft to support its efforts.

Earlier, the military and political commentator Oleksandr Kovalenko wrote that the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was given a new deadline regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war , so the pace of the offensive will be increased in the near future, the expert believes.
