Danilov about Il-76: I can say for sure – there were no prisoners there

Олексій Данілов

Russia would definitely take advantage of the Il-76 plane crash in the Belgorod region, if there were actually Ukrainian prisoners of war on board, who were to be exchanged on January 24.

This was stated by Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security Council, in an interview with Babel.

– Were our prisoners there, I can tell you for sure – no. I say this based on the experience after Tehran and on the basis of what happened next. If this really happened, then the amount of biological material, what is called, let’s say, the dead, would be in a significant amount, – he explained.

Danilov noted that “the field would be red with blood”, but there was no such thing, since they “had this whole story prepared”.

Watching now

– Therefore, let’s wait… If this happened, then, believe me, Lavrov would have rehearsed like this at the UN, and they would have shown all this. They have nothing to show, because if it happened in reality, it would be a completely different picture, – stressed the secretary of the NSDC.

According to him, with a high probability, there were no prisoners of war in the IL-76.

Later, Russian media reported that there were allegedly 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war on board, three people who accompanied them, and six crew members.

However, so far the Russian side has not provided evidence and has not agreed to conduct a transparent international investigation.
