Ukrainian grain can be exported to the Baltic countries via the humanitarian corridor through Belarus – Kachka

Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka said that Ukraine does not exclude the possibility of creating a humanitarian corridor through Belarus in order to supply Ukrainian grain to the Baltic countries due to the tight deadlines for establishing export logistics.
– The Baltic ports of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have the greatest capacity for the transportation of commodities. Compatibility of railway lines in this direction technically simplifies transportation… If we ask a question about unblocking our ports, then theoretically we can ask a question about humanitarian corridors through Belarus, – Interfax-Ukraine quotes Kachka’s statement.
The Deputy Minister clarified that politically this option is less acceptable than unblocking ports. According to him, no one can guarantee that such deliveries are safer than by sea, since the movement of troops is recorded there and there are problems due to the unpredictability of Belarus’ actions.
– However, Ukraine does not rule out any options. If we didn’t have time pressure, we could concentrate exclusively on the western border. But time is running out – the issue must be resolved before the fall, – the sales representative said.
He claims that Ukraine has asked for help in this matter from the FAO, the World Trade Organization and the UN.
– What will be provided by international pressure from third parties – that will be used… If their guarantees allow to travel through Belarus, we will transport through Belarus, if by sea – even better, – Kachka said.
The Ministry of Economy believes that in the next three months it will be impossible to fully ensure exports through the western border, although this can be done in the coming years.
It should be noted that Ukraine is now experiencing not only logistical, but also bureaucratic difficulties with the export of Ukrainian grain through the European Union.
