Ukraine may need additional gas imports to ensure security of supply.

This was announced by Pavel Stanchak, acting head of the the Gas Transmission System Operator, at the Central European Energy Day 2022.

According to him, even without importing gas, service customers can contribute to the energy security of Ukraine and the region, namely by continuing to use Ukrainian gas infrastructure.

– To help Ukraine, we need to continue doing business with Ukraine. This will help minimize risks to our energy system. This will also contribute to strengthening the energy security of European countries, – Pavel Stanchak said.

The head of Ukraine’s  Gas Transmission System Operator called on international partners to increase the guaranteed capacities at connection points with Ukraine on a long-term basis.

Ukraine, in its turn, can provide access to underground gas storage facilities in the customs warehouse regime (without taxes and customs duties), as well as provide access to regional transit of gas over short distances between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, integration into the renewable gas industry and promotion of the transition to “green” energy.
