Rada calls on the world to impose sanctions against Iran for supplying weapons to Russia

By 303 votes, the MPs supported the Statement of the Verkhovna Rada on condemnation of the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine (Resolution No. 8133).
In the statement, the parliament calls on partners to impose tougher sanctions against Iran for supplying military aid to Russia in the form of drones, as well as to force Tehran to abandon its intentions to transfer ballistic missiles to Moscow.
The Council also demands that Iran immediately stop supplying arms to Russia and asks the international community to contribute to the substantial strengthening of Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
This statement will be forwarded to the UN, parliaments and governments of EU countries, the Council of Europe and international organizations.
According to media reports, the European Union has already prepared a list of sanctions against Tehran. Diplomats will allegedly meet on October 19 to agree on the last technical details.
