President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that ending the war will not guarantee peace.

He stated this in his speech to the Halifax International Security Forum participants.

According to Zelenskyy, Russia is now looking for a short-term truce because it needs a break to restore its strength.

Watching now

– Some would call it the end of the war. But such a pause will only worsen the situation, – the President noted.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that there could be no peace if Ukraine had to give up its land or sovereignty for this.

– Immoral compromises will lead to new blood. A real lasting and honest peace can only result from the complete dismantling of all elements of Russian aggression, – the Head of State emphasized.

The President noted that Ukraine has a formula of peace – it includes 10 points:

  • radiation and nuclear safety,
  • food security,
  • energy security,
  • release of all prisoners and deportees,
  • implementation of the UN Charter and restoration of territorial integrity and world order,
  • withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities,
  • tribunal for the perpetrators of aggression and compensation for damages,
  • counteraction to ecocide,
  • security guarantees for Ukraine to prevent escalation,
  • fixing the end of the war.

These challenges must be overcome for the security of Ukraine, Europe, and the world.

– This is the only way to real peace, – the President emphasized.
