Kuleba told under what conditions and when Ukraine can receive Western tanks and ATACMS missiles
The US promise to give Ukraine Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems is not just another decision of the White House, but a psychological turning point. As for long-range ATACMS missiles, Ukraine may receive them next year.
This is the opinion of Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
He reminded that since Ukraine started talking to the Americans about Patriot, they heard only “no” in response.
– And the fact that this happened is another evidence that another taboo has been lifted, another wall has fallen,” Dmytro Kuleba stressed.
As for the transfer of other weapons systems to Ukraine, for example, tanks or ATACMS missiles, according to Kuleba, everything has its time.
– I do not think that other topics will be more complicated than Patriot. They are not implemented, perhaps, all at the same time in one day, but it’s like in a computer game, you open levels one by one, – the Foreign Minister said.
According to him, getting Patriot is still the most difficult level of the game.
– Patriot is a very complex and expensive technology, a technology-symbol. I am not saying that we will receive all the weapons in a week or a month, but I do not expect anything more complicated than the story with Patriot, – said Dmytro Kuleba.
As for when Ukraine will be able to receive ATACMS missiles, modern attack drones and tanks, Dmytro Kuleba said that it is quite possible next year.
– “Next year, yes. But it will depend on the situation on the battlefield,” the minister stressed.
On December 21, the United States officially announced an additional package of military assistance, which will include the Patriot SAM.
Earlier, military expert Mykhailo Prytula said that Russia does not have such weapons that could destroy Patriot missile systems, because their purpose is to shoot down, in particular, anti-radar missiles.
