Temporary Refuge For Ukrainian Children. How Foreigners Can Help

Because of the war in Ukraine, some children may need temporary refuge. Foreigners can help with that.

The Presidential Office has released guidelines for them.

– Children from residential institutions may travel outside of Ukraine only in organized groups. Such groups may only be hosted by organizations duly authorized by countries of their stay, – the statement says.

If an organization has this capacity, it must follow all applicable rules.

Course of action:

• Submit an application via the Child Not Alone chatbot (under the section “For foreigners”).
• Members of the National Social Security Service will process it and provide a list of documents to be submitted by the organization, including a letter of invitation. The latter must indicate the receiving country, the number and category of children, the conditions of their stay, guarantees of their return to Ukraine, and a written confirmation that the organization was duly authorized by the state.
• Submit the documents.
• Wait for a reply.

That said, travelling abroad will be subject to the written consent sealed and signed by the head or deputy head of the oblast military organization and approval by the National Social Security Service.

All children will be the responsibility of their escorts.
