To date, due to the aggressive actions of the Russian army in Ukraine, numerous architectural monuments have been destroyed.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture.

Currently, more than 200 episodes of war crimes of the Russian Federation against cultural heritage in Ukraine have been recorded. But these data are not final, because it is almost impossible to get information from the temporarily occupied territories and zones where the fighting is taking place.

The destruction of cultural heritage sites is a war crime under the 1954 Hague Convention.

– As a result of the actions of the Russian army, numerous architectural monuments were destroyed on the territory of our state. Among them are churches, mosques, synagogues, theaters, monuments, libraries, museums. Entire cities have been damaged – Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Mariupol … Everything that we cherish and love so much, – the press service of the ministry says.

The Ministry of Culture is collecting the evidence base of the crimes of the occupiers for its further use in the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation launched an interactive Map of Cultural Losses, which displays monuments and objects partially damaged or completely destroyed by the Russians.
