Currently, the GTS operates in the most accessible mode despite the damage, mostly in combat zones. These are Kramatorsk and Kharkiv directions, and the Donetsk region, where very heavy fightings are ongoing.

Serhii Makohon, the director of the GTS operator of Ukraine, told Facty ICTV about this in an interview.

– As for other parts of Ukraine, we have already resumed the work of our facilities in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. We are currently waiting for regional or city gas companies to start receiving gas from our gas distribution stations. Where the military men have made it possible to reach our facilities, we have already carried out all the necessary work and are ready to restore gas supplies to the population and industry.

GTS transports gas from our Ukrainian producers and gas storage facilities. In particular, the gas pumping has already begun to prepare for the next heating season.

Compressor stations remain the main critical objects. So far, the enemy has seized six facilities, including Novopskov and Kupiansk in Luhansk and Kharkiv regions.

– The situation is complicated at the Novopskov compressor station. It is located very close to the border with Russia, and a third of gas transit passes through this compressor station. It is very important for us to have operational control over the technological processes at the station. Unfortunately, there are exponents of the Luhansk People’s Republic, the Russian troops, who are trying to interfere in our operational processes – to change the settings of our switches, and so on.

We have officially informed Gazprom that if such actions continue, we will have to stop transit on this side because of the risk to our gas transmission system. We informed our partners. We have a permanent monitoring group, and we communicate with our European partners daily. If there will be a need for a decision to suspend transit, it will be decided by European partners, not us.

The main task of transit is to protect our gas transportation system from destruction by the Russian occupiers.

– As long as there is transit, they are interested in saving on our gas transportation system. We do not have separate pipes for transporting to domestic consumers.

He added that we have transit while our transit gas pipelines are operating.
