Russian troops intimidate Mariupol residents with “leaflets about the rules of occupation” – Denisova

In Mariupol, Russian troops are restricting the freedom of movement of civilians and forcing “filtering” in search of so-called “Nazi militants.” The occupiers are distributing leaflets with answers to questions about living conditions in the temporarily occupied city.
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmila Denisova noted that on paper the invaders provided answers to the main questions that Mariupol residents may be interested in. For example, is it possible to withdraw cash from Ukrainian bank cards.

– It is determined there that the same rules apply in the city as in the so-called “DPR”. Accordingly, it is not possible to transfer funds or withdraw cash from accounts, – said the The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmila Denisova.
In the leaflet, the mercenaries of the Russian Federation noted that the so-called “legislation” does not provide for compensation for destroyed housing or reimbursement of the cost of its restoration.
According to Lyudmila Denisova, the leaflet pays special attention to the rules of so-called “verification,” that is, “filtering” of local residents to detect “fighters.”
Without passing the “filtration”, the residents of Mariupol cannot leave even on the territory of the temporarily occupied Donetsk or within the region. The occupiers allow the movement of private cars in the occupied part of Donetsk only as part of the column.
Lyudmila Denisova added that Russian mercenaries were trying to intimidate Mariupol residents through leaflets. The invaders say that in the case of being in the territory controlled by Ukraine, all men of military age are given a summons and sent to the front. Residents who will be able to leave Mariupol and want to return to the temporarily occupied city will be forced to re-pass the forced “filtration”, Denisova said.
