Full Russification: Russia wants to translate education in schools in Mariupol to its standards

The occupiers plan to completely Russify education in Mariupol schools from September 1. As part of the so-called adaptation to the Russian program, it is about teaching only three subjects: Russian language and literature, Russian history and mathematics.
According to Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova, the Russians are gathering local teachers, forcing them to cooperate.
And those who do not agree are threatened – from “filtration camps” to the restriction of “humanitarian aid”.
Denisova emphasizes that involving children in education near the war zone is a threat to their lives and is a direct violation of Article 38 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
She also recalled another article of the document (art. 29), which clearly stated that a child’s education should be aimed at fostering respect for parents, their cultural identity, language and national values of the country in which they live, their country of origin.
At the beginning of May, about 1,000 schools in Ukraine were located in territories temporarily controlled by Russian invaders.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, there remain about 10-11 thousand teachers.
