In Lviv, the city council banned the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. The Ukrainian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, the Dognal Group, also fell under the restrictions.

The corresponding decision was made during the regular session of the Lviv City Council. The mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, noted that he was unanimously supported by all city council members.

According to him, this political decision was addressed to the president, the head of the Verkhovna Rada and the government, because only state authorities can manage the activities of religious organizations.

– This is the position that we publicly voiced, and the state bodies should take it into account, – Sadovyi emphasized.

After the start of a full-scale war in Ukraine, Metropolitan Onufriy, the Primate of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate, condemned Russia’s aggressive actions. He called on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to stop shelling Ukrainians, but the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate is in no hurry to cooperate or unite with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
