The reason is objective: why Russian losses in the war against Ukraine differ in different sources

The number of killed and wounded Russian servicemen differs significantly when compared to foreign intelligence data or official information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces. Reserve Colonel and Defense Strategies Center expert Viktor Kevlyuk explained why the final report might differ.
– Of course, there are differences. The reason is objective – the General Staff, which publishes the figure of losses, will report on the course of combat operations, which go from the bottom up. They are not always objective because it is not always possible under conditions of intense combat operations. But the figures are summarized and made public,” noted Kevlyuk.
According to him, foreign intelligence and partners look for irrefutable evidence of the death of a specific soldier or the destruction of military equipment, after which only officially confirmed cases are made public.
– Allies are looking for irrefutable evidence of the death of this person, the destruction of this or that sample of military equipment. Accordingly, they publish only documented cases. Hence the difference, he explained.
