It already protects important objects: which anti-drone dome is planned to be built over Kyiv in two years
A special dome for protection against enemy kamikaze drones and unmanned aerial vehicles is planned to be built over Kyiv, which will become a system of deep-echelon air defense.
The construction of the protective dome will take about two years, said Yuri Zozulya, adviser to the mayor of Kyiv. According to him, the creation of appropriate protection is a necessity. Zozulya claims that damage from kamikaze drone strikes has become comparable to missile attacks.
– The creation of such a dome is a unique thing for the world. We used to defend against airplanes and ballistic missiles. But now we have a new challenge facing the whole world, – he said.
The Kyiv mayor’s advisor assured that scientists from different NATO member countries are participating in the project’s development. Several ideas have already been voiced which will help detect drones by tactical, radar, or thermal means.
– Artificial intelligence for recognizing different objects is being rearranged to meet new challenges. It’s a sound we hear from afar. And all these detection systems make this kind of radar unit that doesn’t just work as a dome. It’s a deep echelon defense that starts hundreds of kilometers away from the city.
According to the idea, the system will detect drones by different signs and chain information. Long before the drone arrives in the city, it will be met by Ukrainian defenders.
According to the mayor’s advisor, the dome is already working in Kyiv in fragments because there are important objects for which anti-drone systems are critically needed.
