Destroyed beauty: the house destroyed in Kyiv was built more than 120 years ago

This morning Kyiv was attacked by several enemy drones. Russian occupants again targeted a residential building in the center of the capital.
There were people in the apartments. Three of them died. The house was completely destroyed. It was not registered as a historical monument, but it had a certain architectural and historical value and was a real decoration of the street.
Local historian, guide, and a great admirer of Kyiv antiquity Anton Korob told the story of the house destroyed by the occupiers on his Facebook page.
Built at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, the four-storey house (perhaps originally it had only three floors, and the fourth was added later, in the 1900s) combined elements of a typical example of Kyiv brick style and interesting small stucco neo-Gothic details
It was built as a profitable house by the merchant of the 1st guild – Ioselian Itskovich (Joseph Isakovich) Lev – the owner of the factory of bent furniture and metal products, which was located on the same street.
The company was founded in 1871. As of 1909, 61 workers worked at the factory. Ioselian Lev supplied its products to the South-Western Railway, Moscow-Kyiv-Voronezh, Catherine and other railways, steamship departments and other institutions.

He also had a shop on Oleksandrivska street (now – M.Hrushevsky street), 61. The assortment of the store offered: “A huge selection of all kinds of beds: folding and collapsible, washbasins, night tables, garden furniture, iron and zinc bathtubs, decorated in different colors with luxurious paintings, flowers and handmade decorations”.
Lev was the head of one of the synagogues nearby.
