16-year-old teenager Serhiy, who was illegally deported by Russian invaders to the territory of the Russian Federation after February 24, was returned to Ukraine yesterday, December 19.

Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said that the boy returned home almost eight months after his forced deportation.

– He lived near Mariupol, lost his parents shortly before the war, but has a sister. Now there are many caring compatriots who are ready to help him. After the capture of his native settlement by Russian occupants, he and many other children were taken to Donetsk, and later to Russia, – the Ombudsman said.

Lubinets said that the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation Maria Lvova-Belova decided the fate of Serhiy and other Ukrainian children. Eventually, he was adopted by a Russian family who had three children of their own and one adopted child, but Serhiy did not talk to them.

There the boy went to college, where he began to study auto mechanics. The attitude towards him was not cruel, but he wanted to return to his homeland, so he wrote to one of the chatbots and received a response to the call for help. According to Serhiy, he was very happy to cross the border with Ukraine.
