95% of Ukrainians trust the Armed Forces and 63% have relatives among those who are fighting – poll by Rating Group
In the twentieth nationwide survey conducted by the Rating sociological group, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trusted by a total majority of Ukrainians – 95%.
It is reported that the survey “Ukraine at War. The Image of Veterans in Ukrainian Society” was conducted from January 14 to 16, 2023, at the initiative of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine.
It is noted that, speaking about the main features of the image of veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war, half of the respondents present them as middle-aged people. At the same time, the vast majority (87%) are convinced that they can be representatives of both sexes.
More than half of the respondents named family conflicts, lack of work, and alcohol or drug abuse as key problems that veterans are likely to face after returning home.
At the same time, the level of salaries for military personnel directly involved in combat operations is considered optimal at 40%, and below the required level at 34%.
There is also a decrease in the number of those who believe that the state fulfills its obligations to veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war: in August 2022, the number was 69%, in January 2023 – 53%.
In this regard, it seems important that the vast majority (97%) of those who own their own business are ready to hire veterans. And 93% said they were ready to work with them in the same team, and the same number supported the idea of providing benefits to businesses founded by veterans.
Among the main problems that veterans face most often, 40% identified mental disorders, 23% to 29% – difficulties with applying for benefits, finding a job, receiving medical care, and lack of understanding of society.
47% of respondents are rather positive about the fact that various political forces can invite veterans to run for office, while 32% are negative about it.
