Ukrainian defense forces withdraw from Soledar – Cherevaty
The Ukrainian Defense Forces have withdrawn from Soledar, Donetsk region, to save the lives of their personnel. This was reported by the spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Serhiy Cherevaty.
– “We have consolidated our positions on the previously prepared defense lines. We fulfilled the main task: we did not allow the enemy to systematically break through the defense lines in the Donetsk sector of the frontline and enter the rear, and then move into the operational space. First of all, we knocked out the manpower of the personnel, exhausted the enemy,” said Cherevaty.
According to him, they managed to level the front line in Soledar, so Russian troops failed to surround or capture Ukrainian defenders.
– “This is war. Every military commander acts with the maximum benefit for his troops in mind. We can’t afford the luxury that our enemy has of simply throwing soldiers to the slaughter. We are trying to maneuver, fire, and use small-group tactics to exhaust the enemy as much as possible,” he said.
The spokesperson for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces added that the Russian Federation wants to draw attention to Soledar because the enemy has suffered significant defeats in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Kherson regions.
