Distributing voting ballots: two residents of Kherson region were sentenced to 5 years for participating in a “referendum”

Two residents of the Kherson region were sentenced to five years in prison for participating in a pseudo-referendum.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
– The defendants voluntarily participated in the so-called referendum on secession from Ukraine and accession of the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region to Russia organized by the occupation “authorities,” the statement said.
“During September 23-27, 2022, as members of an illegally created ‘election commission’, they went to the homes of local residents and distributed ballots for illegal ‘voting’.
– After that, they handed over the used ballots to the so-called head of the election commission for further counting and announcing the so-called results. Both were exposed and detained after the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the territory of Kherson region,” the prosecutor’s office added.
The two residents of Beryslav district were found guilty of collaboration (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced to 5 years in prison.
They were also deprived of the right to hold positions in public authorities and engage in activities related to the electoral process for a period of 10 years.
