Izium was littered with the bodies of the murdered: new gruesome details emerged
In de-occupied Izium, the exhumation of bodies at a mass grave began.
Law enforcers found a spontaneous cemetery where the dead were buried during the occupation. Among them are those killed by Russian shells, and tortured, and there is a family with a small child. Most of the wooden crosses do not have nameplates with the names of the dead; people were buried directly under the numbers.
The Ministry of Reintegration has already stated – the number of Russian victims in Izium may be higher than in Bucha.
Tatyana Dotsyak, a journalist of ICTV Facts, told us that there are hundreds of crosses on the outskirts of Izium right in the middle of the forest. They have numbers written on them, which the Russians used to mark the victims of their own crimes.
According to law enforcers, 445 civilians are buried in the spontaneous cemetery. Also, a mass grave was found where 17 Ukrainian military personnel were buried.
Experts began exhuming the bodies only on September 16, because the occupiers could have mined the territory. People were buried without coffins, directly in bags.
According to the journalist, the body of the first victim, which was received by the investigative group, testifies to the terrible agony suffered by Izyum residents during the Russian occupation. There are signs of torture on the hands and feet of the dead man. The man was probably strangled.
– In the first grave there is a rope around the neck of the corpse, with traces of violent death. We have already established that people were also killed during artillery shelling of the Russian Federation or missile strikes, – said the prosecutor of the Kharkiv region Oleksandr Philchakov.
In addition, near the mass civilian burial was found a mass grave of the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The details of the death will be established by experts.
