They tortured people in the classrooms and left messages for the children: how Katyuzhanka survived the occupation

Katyuzhanka in the Kyiv region is one of those settlements that the Ukrainian military recently liberated from the Russian occupiers.

The village with a population of about four thousand inhabitants became a key stronghold for the invaders. They set up their headquarters at a local school.

Pensioner Anatoly, with tears in his eyes, tells how Russian invaders shot his sheepdog. Then they broke into the house.

– I have a mother in the house, 92 years old. Recumbent. I say: do not wake my mother, do not scare her. He pushed me away, went into the house, rummaged through all the cabinets. They took everything off, told to open the door and keep it open.

The self-propelled gun of the occupiers, which fired at the Ukrainian positions, stood right in the school yard. There were also enemy tanks here.

But this is not all that can be found on the school grounds. While the teachers are cleaning up the mess left by the occupiers, the police are digging up the bodies of the civilians who have been shot.

Locals were allowed to bury three on the school grounds. It is now known that the Russians shot nine villagers for no reason. The bodies lay in the open air for a long time.

After the retreat, the occupiers in almost every class left propaganda appeals to Katyuzhan children on the blackboard. They wished the students well and apologized for the mess they made at the school.

But they forgot to mention in this so-called message the innocent people who were shot in the schoolyard, as well as the hostages who were kept in the school basement. The occupiers tortured people just in the classrooms.

In each class, apart from appeals, the invaders left their newspapers and leaflets to Ukrainian children. At present, the teachers, together with their parents who have not left the village, are doing everything possible to prevent the occupiers from leaving a trace in the school.
