Russian troops suffer huge losses near Bakhmut

Heavy fighting continues near the town of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. Russian occupation troops are suffering huge losses there.

The spokesman of the Eastern group of troops of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevatyy, to the host of the national telethon on ICTV Vadym Karpyak, stated this.

He noted that the Russian occupation troops did not reduce the pressure on Bakhmut despite the fact that they redeployed most of their forces to Soledar.

– Unfortunately, this cannot be said. There were 212 attacks in total in the Bakhmut sector over the last day, 31 combat engagements, -stated Cherevatyy.

The spokesman clarified that in the Bakhmut sector, the enemy lost more than 180 soldiers killed and 137 wounded, according to preliminary estimates.

– He suffers enormous losses incomparable with any strategy or tactics of the XXI century. And it has not been able to systematically break through our defenses anywhere to break into our rear somewhere and try to conduct a large offensive operation, – said Cherevatyy.

He added that fighting and fire pressure of the occupants continue in the area of Bakhmut. In addition to Bakhmut, Russian troops are trying to attack near such settlements as Spirne, Krasna Hora, and Klishchiyivka. At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers are holding the defense.

Cherevatyy also commented on the information that Russians use deception tactics, dressing in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and trying to storm the positions of Ukrainian troops in Ukrainian uniform.

– This is not the first time they have used this tactic in different directions. However, Ukrainians are very well prepared in many aspects, in particular in counter-sabotage work.

And there we have very good specialists in such ” cross dressers”, in their “New Year’s nativity scenes”, which send them to hell very quickly. Therefore, this tactic (of the Russians – Ed.) is not massive and does not cause significant damage to the conduct of our defensive actions,” Cherevatyy explained.

The day before, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar said that the enemy does not abandon attempts to surround Bakhmut. To do this, the Russian command uses Wagner units and regular troops.

According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Russian troops could lose up to 20 thousand soldiers near Bakhmut and Soledar.
