There is a threat of further leakage: 150 tons of lubricant got into the Dnipro after the hydroelectric power plant was blown up

Dozens of tons of engine oil fell into the Dnipro River as a result of the undermining of the dam of the Kakhovskaya HPP, which was carried out by the Russian occupying forces.

This was reported in the Office of the President of Ukraine following the emergency meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).

At least 150 tons of lubricant fell into the Dnipro as a result of the internal undermining of the structures of the Kakhovskaya HPP. There is a threat that hundreds more tons will leak.

– The members of the National Security and Defence Council were informed that at least 150 tons of machine oil got into the Dnipro, and there is a risk of further leakage of more than 300 tons, – emphasized the OP.

Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the NSDC, also announced the ecological threat on the air of the telethon. According to him, the consequences of the disaster after the blow-up of the HPP “will be extremely difficult.”

– 360 tons of the lubricant that is there, the risks that may arise at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, this is exactly what the president discussed with the members of the NSDC this morning, – he said.

As you know, as a result of the terrorist attack on the Kakhovskaya HPP, 80 settlements on both banks of the Dnipro River were inundated. Evacuation is currently underway on the de-occupied right bank. No casualties among the civilian population were recorded.
