The United States plans to purchase NASAMS missile defense systems for Ukraine – СNN
This week, the United States plans to announce the purchase of a medium- and long-range missile defense system for Ukraine.
This was reported by CNN, citing its own sources. According to the publication, US President Joe Biden recently announced that the United States will provide Ukraine with more advanced missile systems and ammunition as the war with Russia continues.
According to CNN’s own sources, Ukraine has a request for the NASAMS (Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System) missile defense system, which can hit targets at a distance of more than 100 miles (approximately 160 km). But the Ukrainian military will probably need to be trained to work with these systems.
The publication also notes that in response to Kyiv’s request, Washington will announce the transfer of additional military assistance, which will include artillery ammunition and radars.
On June 26, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine need a powerful air defense system to protect itself from Russian aggression.
According to him, there are already some agreements. However, the President stressed that the delay in the transfer of weapons to our country and any restrictions are an invitation for Russia to attack Ukrainian cities.
