EU sanctions aim to plunge Russian economy into recession for decades – von der Leyen

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that sanctions for the full-scale invasion of Ukraine plunge the Russian economy into recession for decades.
She said this at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
– We impose strong sanctions against Russia, which plunge the Russian economy into recession for decades, and its industry is deprived of modern and critical technologies, – the head of the EC said.
Earlier media reported that the EU is accelerating work on the tenth package of sanctions against Russia. According to the EU diplomat, the reason for the acceleration is the upcoming EU-Ukraine summit and the approaching anniversary of the war.
The ninth package of sanctions against Russia was adopted by the EU in December last year.
