Finland officially joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki.
From now on, NATO includes 31 countries.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg congratulated Finland and expressed hope for Sweden’s quick accession.
Stoltenberg emphasized that the accession of Finland is a historic moment.
– This will make Finland more protected and NATO stronger. On this same day in 1949, the Washington Treaty, the basic treaty of NATO, was signed. Therefore, it is difficult to imagine a better way to mark our anniversary than the accession of Finland, which becomes a full member of the Alliance, – Stoltenberg said in Brussels.
It is worth noting that today NATO celebrates 74 years since its formation.
Finland decided to join NATO last year against the backdrop of Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine, because Finland has more than 1,300 km of border with the Russian Federation.
It will be recalled that earlier the accession of Finland to NATO was ratified by the parliaments of Hungary and Turkey.
In March, it was reported that the air forces of Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway agreed to form and use a single joint force.
