The United States of America and other NATO members plan to provide a strong support package for Ukraine on the occasion of the summit to be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 11-12 July.

This was announced by U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at a press conference in Oslo after a meeting of NATO foreign ministers.

He noted that the participants of the upcoming summit will focus on continuing unwavering support for Ukraine.

– “With regard to Ukraine, based on today’s discussions, the first thing we can say is that in Vilnius, when leaders meet at the Summit, our friends in Ukraine can count on a very strong package of both political and practical support,” said Blinken.

He assured that all Allies stand by the commitments made at the Bucharest Summit in 2008. Back then, Ukraine received assurances that it would one day be able to join the military bloc.

– This has not changed. We are intensely focused on what we can do to further strengthen the relationship between Ukraine and NATO, and to continue to bring Ukraine closer to NATO standards, interoperability,” the US Secretary of State explained.

He noted the incredible courage and sacrifice demonstrated by Ukrainians. Blinken assured that the United States and the European Union will continue to help protect Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

According to the Secretary of State, the meeting in Oslo provided an opportunity to “synchronise our watches” on the issue of support for our country, Russian aggression and other challenges.

As you know, on 1 June, NATO foreign ministers gathered in Norway to discuss support for Ukraine and its aspirations for membership in the bloc.
