Good news for Ukraine: the Wagnerites destroyed a valuable Russian Il-22 aircraft
In Russia, during the rebellion of PMC owner Yevgeny Prigozhin, a rather rare Il-22 aircraft was destroyed. The Russians have no more than ten of them.
Yuriy Ignat, spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this in an interview with NV.
– During an unsuccessful attempt by militants from the terrorist organization Wagner, led by the leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, to “go to Moscow”, the Il-22 aircraft was destroyed in the Russian Federation, and this was the first case of the liquidation of such aircraft, – Ignat emphasized.
According to him, our military somehow also managed to shoot down the IL-22. But then the board arrived at the base “shredded”, where it was then repaired.
Yuriy Ignat noted that the IL-22 works together with the A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft. Partisans tried to blow up the last one on the territory of Belarus a few months ago.
Il-22 and A-50 in the South of Ukraine in the Azov and Black seas track our air defense equipment. Therefore, the destruction of IL is important for Ukraine.
In addition, Wagner’s mercenaries shot down two combat helicopters – one type Mi and one Ka-52, another military transport helicopter Mi-8 and Mi-8, which performs the function of creating obstacles. The latter is very valuable for the Russians, because there are not many such helicopters in Russia.
