The Russian Federation is forced to increase spending on the war in Ukraine – British intelligence

Russia will have to increase direct budget expenditures due to the war, in particular for the security of the occupied territories and defense measures in the regions bordering Ukraine, according to the intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain.
They refer to a June 2023 report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), which estimated Russia’s military spending budget for the current year at 6.6 trillion rubles. ($85.8 billion).
– This equates to approximately 4.4% of Russian GDP compared to 3.6% in 2021, before the invasion of Ukraine. However, the true military spending of the Russian Federation remains uncertain due to insufficient transparency and the use of classified budget items, which account for approximately 22% of the total budget of the Russian government, – the intelligence agency emphasizes.
Despite the fact that only part of the defense budget is spent on the war in Ukraine, the increase in spending, according to British intelligence, marks the cost of Russia’s activities in Ukraine.
