German Defense Minister Annalena Baerbock called on the United Nations, together with member states and other international organizations, to join forces for the return of Ukrainian children abducted by the occupiers and taken to the territory of the Russian Federation.

She stated this on July 17 at the meeting of the UN Security Council at the level of the heads of foreign policy departments regarding the support of peace in Ukraine.

– Despite all the differences, one conviction should not be beyond doubt: deported children belong to their parents… When the perpetrator does not stop even at children, the tragedy turns into terrible inhumanity, – she emphasized.

Burbok also called to investigate the facts of such deportations to the Russian Federation, and the aggressor country not to try to deceive everyone, because the world saw everything with its own eyes and heard the stories of mothers whose children were stolen by the Russian government.

The head of the German Defense Ministry admitted that she constantly imagines how she would feel if these were her children.

As of July 15, only 383 children who were forcibly taken by the Russian occupiers from the temporarily occupied territory to the Russian Federation were returned to Ukraine. The aggressor country does not provide any information about Ukrainian children who were illegally deported.
