Hungary opposes the creation of the European Fund for the Support of the Armed Forces – Politico

Hungary does not want the creation of the European Peace Fund in the amount of 20 billion euros for the military needs of Ukraine.
Politico writes about it.
The plan to create a special fund was put on the agenda for the first time on Thursday at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels. It is planned to allocate at least 5 billion euros per year for the next four years for EU countries that purchase and transfer weapons to Ukraine or train Ukrainian military personnel.
Hungary wants the Ukrainian government to exclude the Hungarian bank OTP from the list of so-called war sponsors.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjártó, said that his country will not authorize the allocation of additional funds for the European Peace Fund.
– We cannot negotiate new financial obligations of the European Peace Fund until the OTP problem is resolved, – Szijjártó said on Thursday.
The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, explained that EU member states will agree on the allocation of additional funds in each specific case, depending on the events at the front and Ukraine’s needs.
A final deal on the fund must be agreed by October, when EU leaders meet in Brussels. And some diplomats believe that by this time Hungary’s position may change.
