Russians thwarted the evacuation of 2,000 Mariupol residents – the mayor

Russian troops thwarted the plan to evacuate 2,000 Mariupol residents on May 3.
The mayor of the city Vadym Boichenko reported about it on the air of a telethon on national TV channels.
People were going to be taken out of the Lunacharskyi ring near Berdiansk to Zaporizhzhia today.
Mariupol residents arrived in Berdiansk for evacuation two weeks ago.
– Unfortunately, today Vladimir Putin has appropriated the right to determine who should be evacuated, who should live and who should die. Only he personally makes the decision.
We have announced an evacuation from the Lunacharskyi ring, but Russian troops are thwarting plans and giving no opportunities for Mariupol residents to reach Zaporizhzhia, – Vadym Boichenko said.
Now the evacuation column, which left yesterday, May 2, is moving towards Zaporizhzhia.
As the rescue operation is still ongoing, the city authorities prefer to provide information on the relocation of the column in a limited version until its successful completion.
In total, more than 100,000 people in Mariupol are waiting for evacuation.
More than 200 civilians and also military men are remaining at the Azovstal plant.
We will remind that on May 2, more than 100 civilians from Mariupol were evacuated from the Azovstal plant.
As soon as the evacuation was completed, enemy aircraft and artillery immediately began firing on the plant.
