Map of hostilities on 05.05.2022 – the situation at the front line

On the 71st day of the full-scale war, Russia’s offensive in the Eastern Operational Zone does not stop.

In the Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy continues to fire on Kharkiv and reconnoiter the positions of units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. North of Izyum, artillery and mortar shellings continue.

The Russian army is also opening artillery fire along the line of contact in the Donetsk and Tavriiskyi directions. To restrain the actions of the Ukrainian military men, the enemy uses UAV operational-tactical level and army aircraft for missile and bomb strikes.

Russian units are trying unsuccessfully to carry offensive in the Lyman, Severodonetsk and Popasna directions.

The positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Avdiivka and Kurakhiv directions are under fire from the Russian army.

Russian invaders are trying to destroy units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol, Donetsk region.

In the Southern Bug direction, Russians launched missile and bomb strikes on the positions of Ukrainian troops and infrastructure in the region and lost control over several settlements on the border of the Mykolayiv and the Kherson regions.

Also, Russia provokes tensions in the Transnistrian region of Moldova. In some areas there, the Russians are regrouping troops and replenishing supplies, trying to improve the tactical position of their units.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not record any active hostilities of the enemy in the Volyn, Polissia and Siverskyi directions.

We will remind that on the evening of May 4 the Russian troops attacked with rockets a number of areas of Ukraine.

Air defence forces shot down a missile over the Brovary district of the Kyiv region.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, air defence forces shot down one of two missiles. Another hit the railway infrastructure, causing damage.

The enemy attacked an infrastructure facility in the Kirovohrad region.

Also, the air defence forces shot down two Russian missiles near Cherkasy.

Missile strikes on May 4 have damaged at least 15 houses and two gas stations in Avdiivka, Donetsk region. People were injured because of shellings caused by Russia.

At 4 am on May 5, air-to-ground missiles damaged nine houses and a school #2 in Kramatorsk.

The gas pipeline was depressurized on the territory of the Energomashspetsstal plant, and other buildings were destroyed. 25 civilians were injured.

Russian invaders Shelled Mykolaiv with multiple rocket launch systems Smerch. Strategic facilities, a zoo and a local school were damaged.

Also, during the past day, the occupying forces attacked the homes of residents of the Luhansk region 24 times.

Russians directed seven heavy artillery shellings on Severodonetsk, seven more on the Popasnianska and Hirska communities, and four on Lysychansk.
