The Russian Federation could destroy a motorized rifle brigade to hide war crimes – ISW

64 separate Guards motorized rifle brigades of the 35th combined military army of Russia were probably destroyed with the consent of the Kremlin in order to cover up war crimes committed in the Kyiv region.
This was reported by analysts of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
According to their data, the brigade was involved in war crimes in the Kyiv region, in particular in Buch.
ISW also noted that the US State Department called on the Russian Federation to stop any military activity around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZAEP) and to support the creation of a demilitarized zone amid new reports of shelling of the ZANP on August 11.
The US State Department also called on Russia to return control of the station to Ukraine.
Military analysts said the complaints filed with the Russian military prosecutor’s office and reviewed by Bellingcat and Insider included cases where Russian authorities tricked or coerced conscripts into combat positions, limited the amount of information provided to families of Russian soldiers and failed to provide soldiers with adequate nutrition and medical care.
The archive contains reports that Russian commanders ordered soldiers to launch assaults without equipment, and that soldiers’ relatives were not informed of their deaths.
