So far, it is not possible to establish strict control over the Kinburn Spit – Gumenyuk

The Ukrainian defenders have not yet been able to establish strict control over the Kinburn Spit.

This was stated by the spokeswoman of the Operational Command South Natalya Gumenyuk on the air of the TV channel Freedom.

She was asked why the amount of information about the Kinburn spit of the Mykolaiv region has decreased.

– There is an information lull during the military operation. At the moment, it (the operation, – Ed.) is ongoing. The enemy does not feel stability. If you know the geography of the Kinbourn spit well, then the sandy shoal does not give a feeling of stability under your feet, because it is a constantly moving land, and, in particular, with the help of our counter-battery fight, with the presence of the enemy on this piece of land, such an effect is created for them, – she said .

Natalya Gumenyuk added that Russian troops cannot permanently stay on the territory of the spit, but enter there by land from the left-bank part of temporarily occupied Ukraine to strike at the Mykolaiv region in order to prevent the region from developing economically, after which the enemy retreats.

– So far, there is no absolute possibility to establish strict control and prevent the enemy from going there (on the Kinburn spit, – Ed.), but we continue to work, – said the representative of OC South.

Earlier, Gumenyuk reported that the Ukrainian military continues combat work to de-occupy the Kinburn spit, but it is complicated, in particular, by weather conditions. Meanwhile, the Russian Federation is trying to fire from there, but this is constantly prevented by the counter-battery work of our troops.
