Russia can launch a new offensive by February 24 from two directions – Reznikov
Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov believes that the Russian Federation may launch a new attack on Ukraine around February 24.
The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said this on the air of the French TV channel BFM TV.
According to Reznikov, now, almost a year after the war, Ukraine cannot lose the initiative at the front.
– Given that they (Russians, – Ed.) live by symbolism, they will try to do something around February 24. We do not underestimate our enemy, – Oleksiy Reznikov assessed the possibility of a new attack.
He also noted that the Kremlin has previously officially announced the mobilization of 300,000 soldiers. Although in reality it may be 500 thousand.
– 300,000 are officially declared, but when we see the troops at the borders, according to our estimates, it is much more, – said the minister.
According to Oleksiy Reznikov, the Russian armed forces can try to attack in two directions: it can be Donbas, and it can be the south.
This is the scenario Kyiv is preparing for, prompting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to ask NATO allies for even more weapons.
– We tell our partners that we, too, should be ready as soon as possible. This is why we need weapons to deter the enemy. In war, everything is decided by initiative, – Minister Oleksiy Reznikov told BFM TV.
