Holding Bakhmut, the Armed Forces of Ukraine perform two main tasks – Cherevaty
The spokesman of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Serhiy Cherevaty, said that while holding the defense of Bakhmut in Donetsk region, Ukrainian defenders perform two main tasks.
He said this in an interview with Radio NV.
– The first task is to prevent the enemy from systematically breaking through the Ukrainian defenses, to achieve strategic success in order to enter the rear of the Defense Forces, surround the troops, quickly break through with the aim of occupying the entire Donetsk region, – said Cherevaty.
The second task, according to him, is to cause maximum damage to the invaders in terms of personnel and equipment, draining the combat potential and lowering the morale, the psychological state of its personnel.
Cherevaty noted that the tactics of the Russian Federation are that the mercenaries of the Wagner PMC wave after wave try to wear down Ukrainian positions, “suffering incredible losses, under the threat of death.”
– And this constantly requires the maximum concentration of our troops, because it is necessary to observe the battlefield, especially in the autumn and winter period, when they tried to approach wave after wave under the cover of terrain and bad weather and impose close combat, – said the spokesman of the Eastern Group .
The military added that this is how the Russian Federation managed to advance to certain insignificant territories. For example, with the help of such tactics, the Russians occupied the village of Soledar with “simply fantastic losses”.
– Therefore, all this time we tried to cause them maximum damage, maximum losses. I think our servicemen did everything they could do to the maximum extent, – he emphasized.
Earlier, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the battles for Bakhmut had reached “the highest level of tension.” The Russian Federation transferred there new mercenaries of Wagner’s PMС.
