Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov called a bluff the statement of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu about the alleged transfer of Iskander-M systems to Belarus.

He expressed this opinion during the discussion Ukraine in the Face of External Challenges.

– “As for nuclear weapons, this is a pure bluff by the Russian Federation. They have a great desire to enter into negotiations as soon as possible and negotiate behind our backs to get to the negotiating table with them,” Danilov said.

He suggested that Russia wants to enter into negotiations and “is doing everything possible and impossible to make this happen, including the so-called nuclear blackmail.”

– If Russia delivers the warheads, because now there are means of delivery, as the Russian Defense Minister said, Iskander-M, I can say that they will continue to try to escalate this situation,” the NSDC Secretary added.

According to Danilov, the results of French President Emmanuel Macron’s upcoming visit to China will be important.

On Tuesday, January 4, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that Moscow had allegedly handed over the Iskander-M operational and tactical system to Minsk. The system can use both conventional and nuclear missiles.

He also said that since April 3, training of the Belarusian military in the use of this system has allegedly begun at one of Russia’s training grounds.
