Russia intimidates its own people with such atrocities: GUR on executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war
The posting of another video of the public execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war online is a deliberate state policy of the Russian Federation, said Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Agency, during the telethon of the United News.
– A detailed check of the content, place, location and, of course, who it is is being carried out. We are talking about an illegal execution by terrorists, by the occupying state. And this is another fact of violation of all possible and impossible norms and rules of warfare,” he emphasized.
According to him, all perpetrators must be brought to justice, and it is not only the perpetrators, “because the publication of this video is evidence that such a genocidal policy is the state policy in the Russian Federation.
– This is a deliberate state policy of the Russian Federation to highlight the atrocities of its army against Ukrainians. The purpose of this policy, in particular, is to demoralize and sow panic in the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which they are failing to do. But the purpose of such public atrocities and executions is also to intimidate their soldiers. They say, don’t think about surrendering, because they will do to you what we do to their prisoners of war,” explained Yusov.
At the same time, the intelligence representative assured that no matter how disgusting the enemy is, Ukraine remains a democratic state and adheres to the Geneva Conventions.
The Security Service of Ukraine has already launched a pre-trial investigation into a war crime, where Russian military brutally tortured a Ukrainian prisoner and cut off his head, under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
