The Prosecutor General’s Office has registered about 80,000 potential war crimes of the Russian Federation – Kostin

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has registered about 80,000 cases of potential war crimes committed by servicemen of the Russian army since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
This was stated by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin in a conversation with American lawmakers on April 19, reports CNN.
According to him, 31 Russian citizens have been convicted in Ukrainian courts for war crimes.
Andriy Kostin, speaking at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, added that the Attorney General’s Office also identified 310 potential perpetrators of crimes and “ended cases against 152 potential war criminals.”
According to him, some of the cases are conducted in absentia, because “we have identified the culprits, we have a full set of evidence, but we cannot wait to arrest them one day, but the procedure of absentee cases is a little longer due to procedural limitations.”
Andriy Kostin called on partners to share intelligence on issues that would help Ukraine convict alleged criminals. According to him, law enforcement officers of Ukraine have identified thousands more people, but do not have enough evidence to convict them.
Earlier this month, the Office of the Prosecutor General announced that members of the Joint Investigative Team for the Investigation of Serious International Crimes in Ukraine (JIT) will investigate the crime of genocide.
We will remind, the day before it became known that the law enforcement officers found out which of the employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation brutalized civilians during the occupation of Kherson.
