In the Bakhmut direction, the situation remains tense, heavy fighting continues. In several suburban settlements of Bakhmut, offensive actions of the Russians failed.
This is reported by the Ground Forces.
It is noted that the commander of the Ground Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi is working today in the areas of hostilities in the Lyman and Bakhmut directions. Defense organization decisions are made on the spot.
The troops of the Russian Federation do not abandon the goal of encircling Bakhmut and use all possible forces and means for this, up to the total destruction of the city. At the same time, the Ukrainian defenders not only hold the defense, but also actively counterattack.
– This gives us the opportunity for several months to hold back the enemy’s offensive and not to increase the front in this direction, destroy his best units and buy time, – said Sirskyi.
Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War reported that the Russian command wants to capture Bakhmut before the start of the counteroffensive of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
