Ukraine to invite Brazil to the Global Peace Summit – Yermak

Ukraine will invite Brazil and other countries of the Global South to a peace summit to discuss the Ukrainian peace formula.
The head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, said this in an interview with CNN Brazil.
He noted that the summit is currently being organised.
– “We believe that the summit will not be complete without the participation of the countries of the Global South,” Yermak said, adding that Brazil, India, China, Saudi Arabia and African countries should be among the key countries for the discussion.
Yermak did not name a tentative date or venue for the summit, but stressed that it would take place in the near future, in a neutral location that would be convenient for representatives of different countries.
According to him, the Ukrainian government wants to see Brazil as one of the leaders in implementing the peace plan.
– Ukraine is very interested in developing relations with Brazil. Ukraine wants a strategic partnership with Brazil. And we are ready to do everything in our power to achieve this goal,” Yermak said.
On 1 June, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva condemned Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and stressed that he supported Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
Prior to that, Lula da Silva had taken a neutral position and refused to condemn the Kremlin’s aggression. In particular, he stated that he did not want to choose a side in Russia’s war against Ukraine, but wanted to remain on the “side of peace”.
In April, Lula da Silva condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine, but did not call for the withdrawal of the aggressor’s troops from the territory of our country.
In the same month, he said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “cannot want everything” and suggested giving the Crimean peninsula to Russia to end the war.
