Patriot systems and Leopard tanks. Germany announces new aid package for Ukraine

Today, on 11 July, Germany announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. It includes air defence systems, tanks and shells.
This was reported by CNN with reference to the German Ministry of Defence.
The total value of the aid is €700 million.
The new package will include two Patriot launchers, 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 25 Leopard 1 A5 main battle tanks and five Bergepanzer 2s from industrial stocks or industrial repairs.
Germany will also send Kyiv 20,000 pieces of artillery ammunition and 5,000 155mm smoke munitions.
In addition, Ukraine will receive a LUNA drone system and a package of mine action equipment.
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said that the arms package is intended to support Ukraine in its defence against Russia.
– “By doing so, we are making an important contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s resilience,” he added.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the inaugural NATO-Ukraine summit will take place tomorrow, where a plan for Ukraine’s accession to NATO will be proposed.
