Barbaric attacks on ports and the burning of Ukrainian grain will lead to a world crisis – Borrell

РФ пошкодила зернові термінали в Одесі

Russia’s withdrawal from the grain agreement, as well as barbaric missile attacks on Odesa ports, which caused large-scale destruction of grain warehouses, could lead to a large-scale food crisis in the world.

This statement was made by EU High Representative Josep Borrell, speaking to journalists before the meeting of the EU Council on Foreign Affairs in Brussels on Thursday.

He called the missile strikes on the Ukrainian port infrastructure “a barbaric attitude that will be taken into account by the Council today.”

– They not only leave the grain agreement to export grain from Ukraine, but also burn grain. We already know that this will lead to a big, huge food crisis in the world, – said a high representative of the EU.

He also told journalists that he presented a plan “to ensure financial support for Ukraine in the coming years, which will amount to a fairly significant amount in monetary terms”, which, he hopes, will be supported by the ministers.

We will remind you that on the night of July 19, Russia purposefully fired missiles at the grain terminals of the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk. The grain infrastructure of international and Ukrainian traders and carriers Kernel, Viterra and CMA CGM Group suffered destruction.

Rockets also damaged reservoirs and moorings of the Odesa port, and 60,000 tons of grain were destroyed in the port of Chornomorsk. According to experts, it will take at least a year to fully restore these facilities.
